Across Canada, organizations are celebrating the vital role of friend and family caregivers to care recipients, our communities, and our economy. Are you #CaregiverAware2019?
There are over 1 million family caregivers in British Columbia.
Nearly 3/10 Canadians provides care to a family member or friend.
Many are balancing care with work, sacrificing income and benefits, providing 10 hours of unpaid care for every hour of paid care provided.
31% report feeling in distress and 55% say they feel anxious.
Yet, 92% of British Columbian family caregivers say the experience is rewarding. Being caregiver aware means recognizing and supporting the caregivers in your family, workplace, and community. Because sometimes those who help others need help the most.
