Supporting Seniors Journal Club - Next meeting July 30, 2020
As part of the Community Scholars Program, the Simon Fraser University Library provides staff of charitable and non-profit organizations in British Columbia with access to the latest research and knowledge in their fields through journal clubs. The SFU Community Scholars Supporting Seniors Journal Club gathers semi-monthly to discuss a research article from the Community Scholars Portal that is relevant to the work they do. An important part of journal clubs is reflections from the participants about how their own experiences affirm, counter, trouble, or otherwise relate to the readings.
Those interested whom are not yet members of the Community Scholars Program are encouraged sign up to the journal club by completing the application form. This will provide participants with a login for the research portal which offers access to academic articles and books that are behind a paywall and therefore inaccessible without a login (or without paying the subscription costs). Joining the Community Scholars Program is not a requirement to participate in the journal club.
The next Supporting Seniors Journal Club meeting is on July 30, 2020.
The two readings for this meeting are:
- Banerjee, D. (2020). The Impact of Covid‐19 Pandemic on Elderly Mental Health. International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry. https://doi.org/10.1002/gps.5320
- Koehn, S. (2020, July 6). Learning about the importance of caring in life through death. [Blog post]. Gerontology Research Centre. https://www.sfu.ca/grc/stories/blog/caring-through-death.html
