Canadian Injury Prevention Conference 2022

Your hosts, Parachute, the BC Injury Research and Prevention Unit (BCIRPU), and the BC Centre for Disease Control invite you to take part in the Canadian Injury Prevention Conference from November 2 to 4, 2022. Early bird registration is now open and is available until September 14th. The conference will take place in person from November 2 to 4, 2022 at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel in Vancouver, BC, and the Globe and Mail journalist André Picard will deliver the opening keynote on November 2. Program Highlights The conference will have a full program, including concurrent sessions, workshops, and mini-oral presentations in lieu of a traditional poster session. More details and a conference schedule will be distributed closer to the date. We are pleased to announce the following plenary and panel sessions:

• Plenary Session: Making Injury Prevention a Priority
• Panel Discussion: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Across the Injury Prevention Spectrum
• Panel Discussion: Injury Data and Surveillance
• Plenary Session: Social Marketing in Injury Prevention

Where is the conference being held? This year’s conference will take place at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel in Vancouver, BC. The conference will be held in-person but will be closely monitored for public health guidelines. Who should attend? All who play a role in the injury prevention field including public health, researchers, policy makers, Indigenous peoples, front-line community and social workers, first responders, and those working with priority and under-served populations are welcome to attend. What topics will the conference cover? Topics will include injuries across the unintentional and inflicted spectrums including traffic, drowning, falls, fire, violence, suicide, and more. In lieu of a full Canadian Fall Prevention Conference, this event will have a focused program stream on fall prevention.
