Choose to Move is a free, evidence-based approach that supports seniors in becoming more active and socially connected for better health and mobility. Choose to Move has recently made changes to how they deliver the program. Now, seniors across British Columbia can access Choose to Move for free over-the-phone or online. And in select communities, where physical distancing can be maintained, they are also offering programs in-person.
The evidence is clear: physical activity supports the prevention and recovery from upper respiratory infections. For many seniors, keeping physically active and socially connected might be especially challenging due to the pandemic. It is more important than ever before to support seniors to become physically active while keeping them safe from exposure to the COVID-19 virus. For the first time, older adults from any community are able to participate in Choose to Move regardless of whether or not there is a program locally.
