Carma House - Wellspring
Wellspring Calgary is a charitable organization with a vision to ensure no one has to face cancer alone. Founded in 2007, Wellspring Calgary is a warm and welcoming community that offers programs and services that meet the emotional, social, and restorative needs of people living with cancer, their caregivers, and their families. All of Wellspring’s programs are evidence-informed and offered free of charge and without referral. Wellspring Calgary operates two centres in Calgary, including Carma House, and offers a full range of programs online and by phone, with a southern Alberta reach spanning from Red Deer to the Canadian border.
Program Highlight: Carma House
Carma House was built and donated in 2009 by Carma Developers to commemorate their 50th Anniversary. It is a place that empowers people who have a cancer diagnosis through non-medical supports and help to advocate for their rights. Carma House offers five program streams:- Core Educational, such as the Money Matters program which helps individuals navigate the financial difficulties that come with a cancer diagnosis
- Movement and Meditation
- Expressive Arts, which includes programs such as Creative Journaling
- Caregiving and Self-care
- Programs exclusively for young adult cancer survivors, such as yoga and hiking
