Community Services Recovery Fund

news image
United Way Centraide Canada (UWCC), along with the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) and Community Foundations of Canada (CFC), has been solicited by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to apply to serve as an intermediary of the Community Services Recovery Fund (CSRF). The three potential intermediaries now have until February 21, 2022 to review the parameters and apply. UWCC, alongside several leading national service federations*, has been actively advocating for the federal government to create a fund for the sector to bridge agencies through the pandemic and enable transformation. We were pleased to see Budget 2021 respond to these advocacy efforts with the announcement of the $400 million CSRF. The CSRF will help charities and nonprofits adapt and modernize. This investment will strengthen the sector as it supports Canadian communities to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, UWCC, CRC, and CFC were selected by the federal government to quickly flow funding from the $350 million Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF) to where it was it was most needed in communities across Canada. Learn more about UWCC’s impact through the ECSF. * Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada, National Association of Friendship Centres, YMCA, and YWCA.
