First National CBSS Summit held in Ottawa
Over 300 participants gathered in Ottawa for the first Pan-Canadian CBSS Sector Summit June 2nd to 4th. Claiming our Space, Naming our Future was designed to include a cross-section of representatives from local, regional, provincial, territorial, and national organizations that are focused on supporting and promoting healthy aging - at home, in community. The event was a new and unique opportunity for non-profits, government, universities, and health agencies to share their knowledge, establish the needs and priorities of the sector, and create a unified vision for the future of aging in Canada.
The dynamic program featured panels, keynotes, workshops, exhibits, and performances, as well as discussions aimed at establishing the sector's needs and priorities, creating a unified vision for its future, and declaring its identity and role. This ground-breaking event marks the beginning of a new national network that will connect the thousands of individuals and organizations committed to supporting older Canadians to age in place, and create a collective voice to advocate for the importance and value of these efforts.
