The Carer Well-Being Index is a global research study commissioned by Embracing Carers and fielded in partnership with an independent, third-party market research provider and non-governmental organizations across 12 countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, Brazil, Taiwan, India and China. Respondents included more than 9,000 unpaid carers across the countries surveyed, of which 755 were unpaid carers in Canada. Unpaid carers were defined as caring for someone with a long-term illness, physical disability, or cognitive/mental condition. The conditions they care for included cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Spinal cord injury, Muscular Dystrophy, cognitive/mental condition or Congestive Heart Failure. The content in this report highlights key learnings specific to carers within Canada.
