The Ontario Nonprofit Network and DEAL have jointly released the Framework for Nonprofit Data Strategies Report. This report explores the complexities, opportunities, and challenges within the nonprofit sector and emphasizes the importance of leveraging data for community outcomes in Ontario. Its aim is to encourage nonprofit leaders to advocate for data practices and standards in their work.
Key findings:
- Nonprofits require individualized data strategies due to their diversity, uniqueness, and varying data capacities. Support and resources should be provided to help nonprofits and nonprofit collectives build their own data strategies.
- The nonprofit sector needs to establish its data practices and policies to take ownership of its data and fully participate in the data ecosystem.
By adopting strong data principles and appropriate policies, the nonprofit sector can become a leader in data. To learn more about data frameworks and practical applications, download the PDF file.
