Healthy Aging – 2020-2021 Year in Review
We are excited to share with you the 2020-21 Healthy Aging Year in Review, which tells the story of this most extraordinary year – how United Way responded to the crisis, how the Community-Based Seniors’ Services (CBSS) sector rose to the challenge, and how the lessons learned will help us move forward, together.
As the COVID-19 pandemic took a stronghold on our province in 2020, it also brought the sector together to collaborate and launch “Safe Seniors, Strong Communities”, a province-wide response to the pandemic that bolstered seniors supports and essential non-medical service delivery at community service agencies throughout B.C., helping seniors who live at home stay safe and connected.
The Year in Review captures these highlights and more, including Healthy Aging program developments and expansions, the Rising to the Challenge report, and updates to our Sector Strengthening programming, among other highlights and news from the past year. We also look forward to what is on the horizon for Healthy Aging, including the Provincial Summit on Aging, relaunching in April 2022 after a brief hiatus due to the pandemic.
Thank you to all our friends and partners in the CBSS sector, who, through our shared values, came together in an unprecedented way to make the seemingly impossible, possible in a global pandemic – supporting older adults across the province to remain safe and supported.
