Falls are the leading cause of injury-related hospitalizations and injury related deaths. Falls are also the major reason for admission to a residential care facility. A fall can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Having Parkinson’s will increase your risk. Although not everyone experiences falls, loss of balance and falling can be common in people with Parkinson’s. Being proactive reduces your risk of falling. This booklet will help identify some of the causes of falls and suggest simple, practical changes and suggestions to keep you active, independent and stay on your feet. If you are a family member, friend or caregiver, you will also find this book helpful
