[Webinar Recording] Food Security Initiatives at United Way BC

Food insecurity remains a significant challenge in Canada, with many communities facing barriers to accessing fresh, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food. United Way British Columbia (UWBC) is committed to amplifying community voices and advancing equitable food access across the province. Recognizing that food security is a deeply local issue with systemic roots, UWBC works to strengthen regional responses while driving province-wide collaboration and innovation. We see this through two of our initiatives: The Regional Community Food Hubs, and Food Link.
Through the Regional Community Food Hubs, UWBC creates centralized, collaborative spaces where service providers can co-locate, access shared infrastructure, and offer wraparound supports like food literacy, wellness programs, and social services. In parallel, the Food Link platform leverages technology to connect nonprofits with surplus food, and coordinate logistics for efficient last-mile delivery. These initiatives help remove barriers and streamline operations for frontline partners, allowing them to focus their energy on meaningful, community-driven work.
Watch this video to learn from the United Way BC Food Security Team about these initiatives.
