[Webinar] Supporting Communities During Weather Related Emergencies

event and training image

Emergencies can occur suddenly and without warning. It is important individuals and families prepared to be self-reliant for a period of up to seven days immediately following a disaster.

In British Columbia, like around the world, we are seeing more and more climate-related emergencies as a result of climate change. Frigid temperature, extreme heat, snowstorms and resulting ice storms, wildfires, heat domes, and floods are a few examples of extreme weather emergencies we’ve experienced in British Columbia over the last few years.

In this webinar, we will discuss ways that United Way British Columbia has supported communities during weather related emergencies including soon-to-be released individual preparedness guidebooks for older adults and for those with additional support needs, agency workshops, and grant opportunities. We will also share examples of past projects that have been funded to help agencies develop their emergency response programs to plan for the Summer.

Join us for this webinar to begin plans for what’s being reported as a hot and dry Summer in BC.
