Terms of Reference – Older Persons’ Human Rights Roundtable (OPHR) International Longevity Centre (ILC) of Canada WAGE Funding Project - July 2025

The Older Persons Human Rights Roundtable serves as a collaborative platform to provide advice on advocacy, policy, and programming related to the human rights of older persons in Canada and internationally, helping to inform ILC Canada’s advocacy, strategy, and policy positions. It aims to


●      Facilitate dialogue among stakeholders focused on the human rights of older persons.

●      Provide advice to ILC Canada on policy improvements for older persons that are human rights based particularly regarding housing, health care, care and poverty reduction.

●      Provide advice to ILC Canada on compliance with the human rights obligations at national, provincial, territorial, and local levels, towards older persons (reviewing differences and best practices amongst provinces and territories).

●      Provide advice on awareness raising on ageism and build capacity on older persons’ human rights.

●      Provide expert advice to ILC Canada on the implementation of relevant laws, treaties, and policies on the human rights of older persons.

●      Provide advice at the international level on content of a proposed UN convention on the human rights of older persons.
